Tennessee Middle School’s newest team member, Honey the therapy dog, made her official debut to the school’s sixth grade class today—alongside her “Furever Friend” sponsor, United Southeast Federal Credit Union (USFCU). During the event, students learned expectations for interacting with Honey, including safe petting practices.
As the first “Furever Friend” sponsor in Bristol Tennessee City Schools, USFCU is providing lifetime sponsorship for Honey throughout her entire working career at TMS. The sponsorship covers the cost of Honey’s adoption, training, care, and ongoing needs.
Therapy dogs like Honey are proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and learning, and offer consistent emotional support to students and staff.
“At United Southeast Federal Credit Union, we’re proud to support programs that strengthen our community,” said Shelly Brown, president and CEO of United Southeast Federal Credit Union. “Sponsoring Honey is more than just sponsoring one dog—it’s an investment in the emotional well-being of students and staff at Tennessee Middle School. We’re honored to be part of something so impactful.”
“Our district is deeply committed to supporting students not only academically, but emotionally,” said Dr. Annette Tudor, Director of Schools. “Honey is already making a difference by creating a sense of calm and connection, and we are incredibly grateful to USFCU for making this possible.”
